For spring break the family and I went to Thessaloniki (or Salonica) in Greece. We toured around the heart of the Macedonian empire, Checked out King Phillip II's tomb (Alexander the Great's dad), went to the ruined city of Dion and spent a few hours at the shadiest train station ever. Most importantly, there was puppies and a 5 star hotel. I have pictures for your eyeholes.
One of many shrines around the ancient city of Vergina (no really, Vergina)
Seriously, this was the nicest place I have ever stayed at.
Constance enjoys the hotel buffet.
5-Star resort, I made a pillow fort.
An ancient Hellenistic theatre (yep, I got orange hair).
Some of the ruins at Dion
This was our tour guide at Dion, Mitch named her Aprodites. (Don't tell Chocolate)
Some wonderfully preserved tilework
Commisserating statues
Everyone took this same photo. (but I'm a taurus, so I dig it a lot)
More statuary
A Macedonian shield wall, celebrating one of Alexander's many victories and honoring his fallen soldiers.
Back at the hotel, Constance and I play some Ping Pong.
Good Morning, Aegean Sea.
I snuck out early to put my toeses in the sea.
The Humphreyses go to Greece!
This big gyro was only 2,50 euro.
I'm kind of a big deal...
"No dad, you aren't"
I promised Constance and puppies, here ya go.
So there's my Big Fat Greek Blog Post. Charity took most of the pictures. We all had a great time. It was weird realizing that after this we were returning to Rome. My life is pretty sweet. Until next time, laters.
