We went on a day trip to Orvieto, north of Rome, in Umbria. It is a quaint hillside town with a beautiful cathedral. It seemed to be quite popular with the tourist crowd. We (the family and I) went with the PROLAW group from Loyola and had a wonderful day, shopping and eating and taking photos. I hope you enjoy...
Baby's first train ride!
The Funicular, a super steep tram that takes you from the train into Orvieto proper.
Hills and cliffs, kinda the reason for the funicular
Afif, Khanyo, Louis and Charity. PROLAW represent!
Myself, with Louis and The Wee Baby Constance, as we stare into the sun
Some stunning architecture on display in Orvieto
Dragon?, maybe hippo? I have no clue. Weird door knocker a la Labyrinth.
PROLAW eats salad, because salad is good for you.
Pear and Gorgonzola pizza. Very CPK, molto delicioso.
I climbed a big ass clock tower, surprisingly I was the first one up and the first one down.
The Climb was tiring, but totally worth it. The view was amazing and Italy really does look like California in a lot of ways. (Note the huge ass cathedral in the background)
The cathedral at Orvieto, all gilded and majestic. So much detail, it would take a month to take it all in.
Beautiful variegated marble on the cathedral
One of Orvieto's magical little alleys, lined with shops of all kinds. Charity says hi!
Charity and the baby take a brief pause.
The size of these truffles! I shudder to think at how much they are worth.
The main road into town.
The community garden at Orvieto
Who doesn't love a little fish pond?
Some sweet fountains, I tell you what.
This is the definition of pastoral.
Constance made a friend on the train ride back.
Sunset from a filthy train window.
Bye Orvieto! Hope you enjoyed the photos!
