Italy has tons of grocery stores. They call them "alimentari". Some of them are tiny little shops with a bunch of random crap, others are big deal, chain store type thingies. Being American, I prefer the latter. I like getting everything I need at one place. Some of the smaller spots though have great stuff. One by my place here has a killer deli and they are more than happy to offer suggestions on meats/cheeses/etc. That isn't what this is all about though. Italy has some crazy ass notions about what food should be and this particular blog is going to highlight some of the crazier things I've seen.
Tuna + Tomato in a tube! Ick. (In my younger days I would have brought this home and tried to pass it off as toothpaste)
Speaking of tubes, hello again McD's. I find this funny because Mayo is everywhere here and this seems unnecessary.
Stop following me, McDonald's. You're creeping me out. (I know, ketchup isn't all that strange...)
Yup, that's pureed fluffy little bunny right there. If your kid ever asks for a rabbit, you can scar them for life with this! They also had proscuitto baby food.
Or, y'know, you could feed your baby horsemeat...
A snob is a person who believes in the existence of an equation between status and human worth. The term also refers to a person who believes that some people are inherently inferior to him or her for any one of a variety of reasons... (from Wikipedia)
This is just the tip of the iceberg (ironic because no one in Italy uses ice), but Connie is tired and so am I. Laters, y'all.
