One of the first things we thought about doing here was taking in a Papal audience. We asked around about how to get the pope to bless your kid and the general response was, "just get to the front of the crowd and hold your kid up, someone will take her and boom, blessing." That is exactly how it went down. We also got a bunch of stuff blessed for our friends and family back home (We didn't forget about you, y'all). Here is how the day went down...
Pretty ladies, so excited.
I love that face
My buddy Louis came along as well
Getting the sillies out before The Pope arrived on scene
I love her, she loves granola
Like, super into granola (also, a little bit o' snotface)
Papa Francesco in his Pope-Mobile (it reminded me of an old school WWF event)
I'm not even Catholic, but I understand the monumental significance of this moment
He said something to her, but I think that's a secret between the two of them.
After he hit the dais, he gave a lovely speech about how children are important and the future would be bleak without them. It was quite lovely and I got to hear it in several languages, then he blessed the audience and the things we brought with us to be blessed, as well as our friends and family who couldn't be there in person. The Pope is a wonderful guy and this was definitely the most excellent moment we've had here in Italy. We don't have a whole lot of time left here, but I'll be blogging until I decide not to. Stay tuned people, we're not done yet.
